Tangents North Snags Peter Katz

Peter Katz is a Toronto based singer-songwriter, whose most recent CD "First Of The Last To Know" has brought him an incredible amount of success. Upon its release in April 2010, the album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Charts and has since returned to #1 on 3 separate occasions.  The album features some incredible special guests including recent Juno Award Winners The Good Lovelies, Melissa McClelland and Academy Award winning artist Glen Hansard (The Swell Season, ‘Once’). Licensed to Toronto based indie record label, Curve Music, and distributed by Sony Music in Canada and Bertus in the Netherlands, the album was released in both markets so far and has already scanned over 4000 copies.

With hundreds of shows under his belt (over 150 per year and growing), Peter’s music has taken him across Canada, the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and other parts of Europe multiple times. His prolific songwriting, distinctive vocals and abundant talent have earned Peter a devoted and loyal fan base over the past seven years.

With the departure of his former manager, Brian Hetherman to FACTOR, Peter has been waiting to find the right management fit.  After catching Peter’s set opening for The Swell Season at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre this past summer, music manager Sean Russell of Tangents North (David Francey, Decade of Sleep) knew that he had found his needle in the haystack.

It is with great excitement that Tangents North announces a new partnership with Peter Katz. Having worked on management with acts such as The Trews, Two Hours Traffic and Peter Elkas at Bumstead Management, and now with David Francey and Decade of Sleep at Tangents North, Sean brings a rare combination of experience and energy that he’s confident will bring this extraordinary artist to an even wider audience.

As has been the case for the past several years, Curve Music, now under the leadership of label manager Tiffany Tse, will continue to support Peter’s career both in Canada and internationally.

With this new team set in place and the continuous efforts of Curve Music alongside Tangents North, you can expect to see some wonderful advancements in the future for Peter Katz.
